Kwadwo Peprah

Kwadwo Peprah født 1992, er en ghanesisk multidisiplinær kunstner som for tiden bor og arbeider mellom Kumasi og Accra. Hans abstrakte kubistiske stil benytter en konseptuell postmodernistisk tilnærming som henter inspirasjon fra afrikanske masker. 

Peprah er en alumnus fra Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, hvor han studerte Integrert Rural Arts and Industry. Det var i løpet av sin tid der at han først møtte den kulturelle betydningen rundt Afrikanske masker. Ved å arbeide med lær for å lage ulike stiler av masker, dekonstruerte Peprah elementene som utgjør en maske og omformulerte de estetiske elementene av dette eldgamle afrikanske håndverket til sin egen kunstneriske praksis.

Kwadwo Peprah (b. 1992) is a Ghanaian multidisciplinary artist currently living and working between Kumasi and Accra. His abstract cubist style employs a conceptual postmodernist approach that draws inspiration from African masks. 
Peprah is an alumnus of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he studied Integrated Rural Arts and Industry. It was during his time there that he first encountered the cultural significance of African masks.
Working with leather to create various styles of masks, Peprah deconstructed the elements that make up a mask and reimagined the aesthetic elements of this ancient African craft for his own artistic practice.
